I saw that V403 Pup didn't have any spectra in the BeSS database, so I observed it. Twice.
First was on Mar 3
I noticed and later identified the Ca II K line at 393.4 nm
I observed it again on Mar 11
The Ca II K line is gone but the He I line at 402.5 nm was much stronger.
In the literature I found references to Ca II emission lines in the IR as an indication of interacting binary Be stars

Could I have caught a companion near periastron passage? Seems kind of lucky to me.
