Merci Christian pour cette nouvelle version.
L'addition du jour julien bien pratique dans le cas du suivi de RR lyre par exemple.

Hello Christian,

thank you for the constant improvement of ISIS. The description of the process flow for the echelle:
http://www.astrosurf.com/buil/isis/eshe ... chelle.htm
is most useful and long awaited. I am proposing ISIS as a standard for the Swiss spectroscopy group with some success, both for LHIRES and echelle users. see e.g. http://www.astronomie.ch/forum/viewtopi ... =28&t=6278 (ISIS manual in german)
With the bad weather lately I had the opportunity to test the program with a slightly off topic spectrum but fitting the weather of the last weeks. The lightning was recorded by Martin Huwiler in a single image taken from a movie:
lightning recorded by Martin Huwilwer, Canon G1x 300 L/mm grating

Blitzspektrum.PNG (290.5 KiB) Viewed 5357 times
It was analyzed first with IRIS
preprocessing with IRIS
preprocessing with IRIS
Blitzspektrum IRIS2.PNG (32.18 KiB) Viewed 5357 times
and for the calibration ISIS was used, with N II lines from the NIST database:
http://physics.nist.gov/PhysRefData/Han ... table4.htm
calibration with H and N II lines
calibration with H and N II lines
Blitz Calibration.PNG (31.27 KiB) Viewed 5357 times
At this point the possibility to save and load line lists of the the new version comes in very handy for testing different calibrations!
The result came out quite satisfactory (no instrument response yet):

blitz_cal2label.PNG (90.27 KiB) Viewed 5357 times
.
I also tried to improve th appearance of the spectrum by oversampling the initial image in IRIS with a scaling by a factor two, in order to partially reduce the effect of undersampling the image in the low resolution movie mode (the camera lens is better than the image resolution):
improvement of lineshape by subsampling
improvement of lineshape by subsampling
blitz subsample.png (7.35 KiB) Viewed 5357 times
But of course, most important for me are the echelle improvements.

Regards,

Martin
