Stéphane, Vikrant: very good results!
Could you send me the fits for inclusion in the database?
(see Steve Shores's request)

An update of the AAVSO V lightcurve.
A new hump detected by the excellent work of observer SFV.
I seems that nova Per 2020 is another peculiar nova with strong oscillations at maximum.(See e.g. nova cas 2020, nova Sct 2017)
At the date, there's no model to explain this behavior.
An idea, more than a model, evokes an oscillation of the extended envelop due to radiation pressure/gravity opposition. But it remains very speculative.

Note: which such fast changes, time series spectroscopy along the night is the key for a better understanding of the phenomenon.
Observations in Europe and North America helps for a better coverage.
If Dong Li is reading ;) , spectra of H alpha lines should be very welcome!

Hello,

You can see here a general view of the Nova Persei 2020, from Piera this last night.

Cheers, J. Guarro.

James:
Answer from Steve Shore: the identification is possible but not sure.
More spectra are needed.

A good challenge for UVEX!
