Friends,
We were notified that the classical nova V1047 Cen (Nova Cen 2005) is rebrightening, having reached approximately V=15.3. This was a fast and very red FeII nova in 2005 and it reached a visual magnitude of 8.5 at peak. I really don’t know what this current event is, but it provides a great opportunity for our community to follow its evolution. Therefore, I would like to request spectroscopic observations by whomever can reach southern hemisphere targets (I hope that there are observers who are in the south...) Please focus around the H-alpha region. No specific resolution is required…
The relevant AAVSO alert for photometric observations can be found here:
https://www.aavso.org/aavso-alert-notice-668
Please consider submitting your observations at the AAVSO spectroscopic database – it can be accessed here: https://www.aavso.org/apps/specdb/
Thank you in advance for your attention to this request!
Best wishes – clear skies,
Stella.

Wrong section. Move to "Outbursts and alerts"/Novae ?

Topic moved to Cataclysmics section
Interesting brightning. I see V = 14.5 on June 28th in AAVSO database.
Still very faint for a spectrum with correct SNR
Of course, if the target become sufficiently bright, a page will be opened in ARAS database

I have taken a spectra of this old nova.
It is dim at V=14.6 so the SN is low. Terry
