Robin,
The spectrum is in the same Y position on the sensor for all observations.
Its on all the sub exposures.
I did not take a reference star spectrum.

Re: HeI 6678 Campaign of gamma Cas
It is a flat defect.
See my reply here
https://groups.io/g/astronomicalspectro ... sage/16570
In cases of defects like this a good test is to bin the flat in the same location to check if it is a problem with the flat correction
Cheers
Robin

Re: HeI 6678 Campaign of gamma Cas
Dear colleagues,
the attached overview informs about the relationship between the Halpha and HeI6678 emission activities of gamma Cas.
As you can see, the EW of Halpha and HeI6678 are correlated in long-term view (upper Fig.) and short-term view (middle Fig.).
The lower Fig. , were only contemporaneous EW data of Halpha and HeI6768 had been used, underlines the character of the correlation particularly clear.
The short-term view (middle Fig.) shows a kind of outburst after JD 2459000, which had been also monitored of our professional colleagues Myron Smith and Gregor Rauw with the X-ray (XMM) satellite telescope.
Thank you very much to A. Stiewing, U. Zurmühl, E. Bryssinck, P. Somoguy, K. Alich, D. Doctor & J. Martin for your usefull spectra contribution after JD 2458800 to this project. Ernst Pollmann

Re: HeI 6678 Campaign of gamma Cas
Some news:
XMM and TIGRE observations were started on July 25th (G. Rauw, M. Smith, Y. Naze). The professional colleagues are currently working on this data together with our observations (spectra).
In the sense of our further observations, here the current status of the primary spectra evaluation of the EW of Halpha and HeI6678.
Since the beginning of the amateur observations in April 1994, such a cyclical behavior of the two EW (see the attached plot) has not yet been observed. We can be curious to see what conclusions the XMM and TIGRE observations will lead to.
