I am setting up the ALPY600. Attached is a shot of the guiding slit focus. There seems to be quite a good depth of field, but comments on fucus are very welcome. (Lots of light leaks, this shot was of my ceiling.)
Thanks, Ed

Re: Aply 600 Guiding slit focus
My mistake: "focus" not "fucus," which is a kind of seaweed.

Wow that's a nice big field Ed. What camera are you using for guiding ?

Re: Aply 600 Guiding slit focus
Hi Robin:
It is a St-402ME. Rather heavy, so I substituted three hex screws for the stock screws. It seems to be OK, but I have not put it on the telescope yet. We shall see. I have a Moonlite focuser that should take the weight.
Cheers, Ed
BTW, the camera has an internal BVI filter wheel. I wonder it I could use this for BVI photometry using the reflective slit?

Re: Aply 600 Guiding slit focus
Ed,
I suspect you are using a directional light, with a high incidence angle (?).
Dust should normally appear black.
Lightening quality is important (diffuse lighting is ideal).
You use the camera in 1x1 binning (the slit image seem little small).

Re: Aply 600 Guiding slit focus
Thank you for the comment, Christian. I have been working with the focus under better lighting and think all is OK now.
