VSpec 4.0.0

I published today a new Vspec version which shall comply with the new specification of BeSS with 2 new keywords on spectral resolution.
It also inludes 3 way to compute Equivalent Width, with error and the capability to generate a stack of profile with time.

Je viens de publier la version 4.0.0 de Vspec qui devrait etre compatible avec la generation des 2 nouveaux mot-clefs sur la resolution spectrale pour l'exportation au format BeSS.
Elle inclue également 3 nouvelles methodes de calcul de la largeur equivalente, avec son erreur et la capacité de générer un graphe de profiles empilés en fonction du temps.

I join in congratulating Valerie Paolo for new features Vspec.
including:
1. Ability to export to png
2. Calculation of the continuum in an area
3. Ability to annotate the spectrum

Two suggestions:
1. Improve the image of PNG edges: the image includes color pixels of the box containing the spectrum
2. The opportunity to define, in an option box, the width of the interval where the continuum is calculated, extend the line representing the interpolation of the continuum to the left and right so you can see if the continuum tangent to the best .

A request:
Two additional measures, useful for measuring spectra of supernovae (it still does not let the first 40 spectra of intensive monitoring and prolonged a supernova by amateurs in a sheet web without drawing a record of observation !)
- Determination of the wavelength corresponding to the minimum flow
- Depth of the line measured at the minimum



Je me joins à Paolo pour féliciter Valérie pour les nouvelles fonctionnalités de VSpec.
Notamment :
1. Possibilité d'exporter en png
2. Calcul du continuum sur une zone
3. Possibilité d'annoter le spectre

Deux suggestions :
1. Améliorer l'image PNG sur des bords : l'image intègre des pixels colorés de la bôite contenant le spectre
2. Offrir la possibilité de définir, dans une boîte d'options, la largeur de l'intervalle où le continuum est calculé, prolonger la droite représentant l’interpolation du continuum à droite et à gauche de façon à visualiser si elle tangente au mieux le continuum.

Une demande :
2 mesures supplémentaires, utiles pour les mesures des spectres de supernovae (on ne va quand même pas laisser les 40 spectres du premier suivi intensif et prolongé d'une supernova par des amateurs dans une feuille web sans en tirer un compte-rendu d'observation !) :
- détermination de la longueur d'onde correspondant au minimum de flux
- profondeur de la raie mesurée au niveau du minimum

Geeat new functions in VisualSpec. I specially like the ability to change the geometry within VisualSpec so you basically can work from a raw image and go through all the process in a single software. I have used it in the "Ferme des étoiles" spectroscopy workshop and it was great for the trainees to do all in the software, including element identification, autoPlanck and some other nice features!

One thing I noticed thus is the difficulty to rotate a spectrum when the first order is too close to the corner - the case with a Star Analyser and a webcam where the spectrum as to be oriented 45° to fit in. Rotation then move the star out of the image original size and it would be nice to have the ability to have the image resizing automatically depending on rotation angle so you loose no information there...

Anyway, great educational all-in-one tool with this version 4.0 !

bravo pour le maintien au top de ce logiciel
un petit bug s'est glissé par rapport à la version précédente : l'accés à Spectrum ne fonctionne pas bien, il se désactive lors de la fermeture du programme et on a du mal à le retrouver.
sinon encore merci pour cet outil bien pensé.
