Problem with ISIS on Wondopws 8.1 computer

Post by Keith Graham »

I just installed ISIS on a new Windows 8.1. I am presently having 2 issues on the new computer that are not present on the old one (Windows XP).

1. Although the reticle box is checked on the Image tab, there is no reticle.
2. When I call up a file from the working directory into the Image tab, it shows up correctly (except for the lack of a reticle). However, the next image in the sequence will not show up when clicking on the arrow button between the Display and Next boxes.

The images are properly numbered xxx-1, xxx-2, etc. However, when I click Next, I get the message that xxx-11 is not found in the working directory. If I bring up xxx-4 and click Next, I get the message the xxx-41 is not found in the working directory. For some reason, ISIS is looking for files that end in 1 and are in sequence by 10s instead of 1s.

I did transfer my image files by dragging them onto an external hard drive, connecting the external HD to the new computer, and then dragging them onto the C drive of the new computer. These same files work perfectly on the old computer. The only thing I can think of is that I missed something in the settings when setting up ISIS on the new computer. I have gone over the settings and compared them with the old computer, and as far as I can see, all is the same.

Can anyone offer a suggestion as to what I may have missed.

Thanks,

Keith Graham

Keith,
Not sure of the answer, but have you tried with a xxxx-01,xxxx-02 sequence??

Hi Ken,

Actually, ISIS wants no 0s in the name. I image with MaximDL, and there is an algorithm in ISIS that removes those double 0s. I have always used the xx-1, xxx-2, etc format and that has worked just fine up until now. However, just for the fun of it, I tried your suggestion to see if this would solve the issue. Nope, still there.

Cheers,

As an addendum to the above issue, I tried changing the names to xxx11, xxx-21, xxx-31, etc. ISIS returns the message that xxx-111 is not found in the working directory. Apparently ISIS keeps adding a 1 to the image name and of course cannot find it. I did download ISIS5.4 from the website directly to the 8.1 computer, but this did not cure the problem. Again, ISIS works very well on the XP computer.

Oh, yes - I forgot to mention that I have resolved the reticle issue. All is fine there.

Hi Keith have you got the suffix set up correctly to agree with what you are using to divide the name from the number? bottom right hand corner of the "General" tab

Hi Keith
Probably not much help but have you tried just putting `xx-` in the General\Generic name box so ISIS then looks for xx-1,xx-2 etc?. I had the same problem as you when I had xx-1 in the Generic name box. ISIS works fine on my Win 7 lappy.
cheers

Hi Robin,

Yep - that did it. As soon as I saw your reply, I remembered I had made that same mistake a long while ago when I installed ISIS on another computer. Thanks so much for the help. All is good now.

Cheers,

Keith
