Eta Orionis period with eShel spectrograph

Post by Olivier GARDE »

During last month, I took 12 spectra of Eta Orionis to find one or more periods.

All results in the pdf doc :
http://o.garde.free.fr/astro/spectro/Et ... Period.pdf

And an animation of the 12 spectra correct in phase :

All comments are welcome.

Just one thing, how to use the periodogram fonction in ISIS ?

Superb work Olivier!
This level of research pushes me to seriously
think about getting the LHIRES III.

Do you use any grating other than the 2400 l/mm
with your LHIRES III?

Hi James,

For this work, I did it with an eShel spectrograph, but it's also possible with a LHIRES III.
I have two gratings with my LHIRES :
- 2400 l/mm
- 1200 l/mm (very useful when the target is not bright enough with the 2400l/mm)

I have updated my document with additional informations on how to do the process with ISIS and the periodogram function.

Hi Olivier,
a wonderful demonstration of your observations.
Is this periodicity caused by non-radial pulsations?

Merci Christian,

Tout cela a été rendu possible grâce à ton soft ISIS :)

Thank you Ernst,

I don't know about the periodicity, I try to read some publication about this star to understand this complexe of 4 stars system.

Olivier,
would you be so friendly, to inform us here about your findings?
I am very interested!

To: Ernst,

Great work! Need to send you more VV Cep data when (and if) I can reduce all my 40+ nights
of spectra observations from Jul-Dec2016.

RE:"....I try to read some publication about this star to understand this complexe of 4 stars system."
See:http://adsabs.harvard.edu/abs/2008AAS...211.5722O

This Eta-Ori system is used to "self calibrate" interferometric observations from the CHARA array.
