Halogen lamp 4700K

After an excellent suggestion from Andrew Smith:

a test of a high temperature halogen lamp, the model SOLUX 50W 4700K 17°



The flux gain is 76% relative to a conventional 3800K lamp when comparing the signal measured at 6600A and 4200A.
The 4700K lamp produces as expected significantly more flux in blue / UV, excellent news for calibrating our spectrographs
more efficiently and easily in this part of the spectrum.

Dans le domaine des lampes dédiées au spectacle, on trouve des températures de couleur élevé comme celle ci à 8500K :

Le problème, il faut bien l'enfermer dans une boite car la lumière produite est assez intense, il faut aussi pouvoir dissiper les calories indésirables....

vue le prix delà vaudrait le cout de faire des essais pour voir si c'est bien un profil sans raies...

Hi Olivier, I used high temperature lamps during my PhD (40+ years ago). We had them in home made copper containers with water cooling. If you forgot to turn on the water the solder holding the copper housing together would melt leaving a brightly illuminated mess!

The 47K seems a good compromise but it is always worth exploring alternatives.
