ISIS profile Compare function Save results

Post by Forrest Sims »

Hello,

Probably a dumb question but ... I use the Compare Function/Button in ISIS to compare my response corrected profile to the library reference file for the same star. For documentation purposes I would like to save the result showing the two profiles. When I click the Save button I expected to see a new file created in the working directory. Far as I can tell no new file is created. So does anyone know what the Save button is for when you Compare two spectra and or how to accomplish saving a plot of the two profiles? I have attached a screen shot (maybe this is my only solution) to help explain my question.

Thanks!

Pay attention. The save button save the current comparison image in the working directory. In your situation, the in-memory image m_hd187879 is saved by using the file name m_hd187879. It's a neutral operation (no visible effect).

The save button becomes interesting if you apply a spectral shift: the current comparison image is then saved with the spectral shift applied relative to the reference image. This is a method that can used for adjust spectral calibration manually by comparison (if a spectrum (or more) is shifted then you compare to the reference). Sometimes very useful.
