Comparison of MILES and "Teyssier" reference stars

Post by Robin Leadbeater »

Last night when measuring blazar S5 0716+71 with the Star Analyser, I recorded 2 reference stars.
HD43378 from the MILES database and HD42818 from Francois Teyssier's spreadsheet of low extinction A stars which I used with the Pickles A0v spectum.

I am pleased to report that the two resulting instrument responses were essentially identical (see attached plot) , confirming that HD42818 makes a good reference star, with a typical A0v spectrum.

Has anyone else verified any other potential reference stars against MILES spectra? It might be useful to maintain a list of stars which have been verified in this way somewhere so that the number of known reliable reference stars can be increased.

Cheers
Robin
