Robin,
Could you elaborate on the problem?
I thought you could just change the instrument section by editing the fits header - that's what I had to do when I incorrectly defined the instrument in AstroArt.

Hi Ken,
When you first register to submit spectra to the BeSS database you give details of your equipment setup and give it a name which you enter in the fits header. (BeSS checks that this agrees with the information they have for any spectra submitted) You can have several setups on the BeSS system but I cannot see how to register these. I submitted a spectrum with a new setup name. The website said I needed to enter details of the new setup but did not indicate how this could be done (There does not appear for example to be an option for this in the section where personal details can be changed)

I just tried submitting the spectrum with the new equipment name again and this time it gave me a box to fill in for the new description so it looks like it was just a glitch.
