My Atik 460EX is not performing properly. I am considering the Starlight Express SX694 as a replacement primary because of it's superior cooling as I live in the desert,
My biggest concern is the "Dry Argon CCD chamber fill for improved cooling performance". Will the argon interfere with the accuracy of the spectrum.
Does anyone have experience with this camera.
Thanks,
Al

I don't think so so. Why should it be any better or worse than dry nitrogen or air. Any small effects (if any) should calibrate out.

Re: Starlight Express Trius SX694 with The Lhires
Hello Al,
I have been using an SX694 (pre-Trius version) on my LISA for several years now with no problem. It is a reliable, stable camera which will cool to -20C throughout the year here in the UK where summer nighttime temperatures can be 15C. Your nighttime temperatures might be slightly higher.
