Nova Aql 1918 100 years on

Post by Robin Leadbeater »

On 8th June it was 100 years since the discovery of Nova Aql 1918 (V603 Aql) . It reached mag -1 then, the brightest nova in modern times, so I thought I would record a spectrum to commemorate the anniversary. (It is ~mag 12 now)

The emission lines are identified from this paper
http://ukads.nottingham.ac.uk/abs/2000MNRAS.311..135A
and according to the paper most likely originate in the accretion disc.
